A Palatine man was held in lieu of $200,000 bail Monday on charges he sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl after he climbed through her open first-floor bedroom window just after midnight Saturday.
Cletis Poitra, 41, of the 1500 block of Winslowe Drive in the Palatine Square apartments, faces charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and home invasion. He was arrested about an hour after the attack, police said.
The victim’s mother found Poitra in bed with her daughter when she went in to close a window, Cmdr. Mike Seebacher said. The mother, who recognized Poitra from the neighborhood, chased him out the front door and called 911.
A court date is set for Aug. 23.
