The area’s fourth day of 70s Wednesday won’t last. A windshift to the NE is to send air streaming into the city after a nearly 300 mile trip the entire length of Lake Michigan on Thursday. With lake waters still cold, that long trek lends a distinct chill to the air. In fact, this pattern is the one which generates the spring season’s chilliest daytime highs here. But, while NE winds may linger into Friday, when sunshine returns to the area, warming is predicted this weekend. Inland temperatures may return to the 70s Saturday, Sunday and Monday–although the SE orientation of winds here will deliver some lake cooling to shoreline locations. Weather records here tell us there’s plenty of warm weather to go. While Chicago has typically logged two 70(degrees) days by April 6, there are usually 142 such days still to come this year.
