DISTRICT 200

Parents are asked to register children for kindergarten before June 6 because the Dierzen Early Learning Center, 2045 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, will be closed for renovations this summer. Kindergarten will start Aug. 29. To be eligible, a child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. A birth certificate from the state is needed to verify age. The registration fee is $55. DISTRICT 220

A series of community meetings to discuss potential plans for additional schools will be held at the following times and days: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Countryside School; 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Hough Street School; in both English and Spanish, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sunny Hill School; and 7:30 p.m. April 27, Barrington Middle School-Prairie Campus. ELGIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

High school seniors are invited to Senior Day for campus tours and SpringFest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27. JUDSON COLLEGE

The Division of Adult and Continuing Education will hold an open house on its accelerated degree programs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with presentations at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Tuesday; and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with presentations at 5 and 6 p.m., April 28 on the second floor of the Lindner Center, 1151 S. State St., Elgin. The program is for ages 23 and older interested in finishing their bachelor’s degree in an accelerated program. A light lunch will be provided at the 11 a.m. session. McHENRY COUNTY

The McHenry County Latino Coalition (115 E. South St., Suite 201, Woodstock, IL 60098) is seeking applications through April 29 for a $900 scholarship for books and tuition at any Illinois college or university. Applicants must live in McHenry County; be of Latino or Hispanic origin; be a first-time college student; and have a high school diploma or GED. A 500-word essay in English or Spanish, a high school transcript, two letters of recommendation from a teacher or employer, proof of financial need and proof of residency must be included with the completed application. Essay topics will be included in application forms.

McHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE

Registration for GED and English as a Second Language classes through the college will be held at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. Fridays in Room A360 of McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. Students who want to attend classes in Harvard can register 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the high school, 1103 N. Jefferson St. Classes start May 9. STREAMWOOD

Applications are due May 2 for the 2005 Community Scholarship sponsored by the village and the Workforce Board of Northern Cook County. The scholarship will be awarded to resident who is a first time, continuing or returning student, demonstrates financial need and shows the ability to successfully complete coursework at an approved state educational institution. The five-week Summer Program Spectacular for developmentally delayed children ages 5 to 15 will start July 5 in the Adult and Child Rehab Center, 708 Washington St. Students will work on speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, physical mobility and daily living skills through outdoor activities, games and arts and crafts.
