A West Rogers Park man was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison for kidnapping a baby in a car he stole.

Nate Davis, 21, was convicted of aggravated kidnapping and possession of a stolen motor vehicle in a bench trial last month by Judge Evelyn Clay at the Cook County Criminal Courts Building.

Clay sentenced Davis to 30 years for the kidnapping and a concurrent 7 years in the auto theft, said Tom Stanton, a spokesman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

Davis, of the 6400 block of North Hamilton Avenue, stole the car in March 2004 from the 2900 block of West Walton Street. A Wisconsin couple had left the baby inside momentarily.

The child’s father called the cell phone in the vehicle, which Davis answered and demanded money, prosecutors said.
