A Lisle man was charged Monday with aggravated intimidation and assault for holding police at bay with a sword and air rifle for several hours Sunday, police said.
Gintaras Razukas, 30, of the 4700 block of Lake Trail Drive called police at about 3:40 p.m. and told them he wanted to harm himself, police said.
When officers arrived, they found Razukas apparently “heavily intoxicated” and barricaded in his apartment, said Lisle Police Sgt. Ron Wilke.
Police tried talking to him through a window, but he came toward them brandishing a 2 1/2-foot sword, Wilke said. Police subdued him with a Taser, and he was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was charged with aggravated intimidation, a felony, aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless conduct.
