Community Unit District 300 students will pay higher enrollment and extra-curricular fees in the fall.
School board members approved raising enrollment fees to $90 for kindergarten students, $105 for grades 1 through 5, $115 for middle school and $125 for high school students, an increase of $10 for the Carpentersville-based district.
The biggest jump the board approved Monday was a $50 increase for high school sports, bringing the cost to $150 for each sport. Middle-school athletic fees will increase $25 to $75.
Fee increases would generate about $160,000 in additional revenue in the next fiscal year. But the district still projects that it will spend about $350,000 more than it will take in unless more cuts are made. District 300 has a $24 million deficit and a $120 million budget.
