You can expect a lot of fire-engine red at Roselle’s annual Rose Parade this year.

The parade, to be held June 5, will celebrate the village’s 100 years of fire service. Featured will be Roselle’s firetrucks, plus more than 30 fire engines from neighboring towns.

“Fire service in Roselle started in 1905, and we have the original horse-drawn fire carriage at the fire station that has been restored,” said Robin Weaver, village administrator. “Our department was staffed wholly by volunteers until 1991, when we hired four full-time firefighters. Of those original four, two remain.”

Weaver said the village has 12 full-time firefighters and 30 part-time firefighters.
