“Desperate Housewives” and “Lost” won top honors from the Television Critics Association on Saturday.

“Housewives” was named program of the year and “Lost,” featuring plane crash survivors marooned on an eerie island, was honored as outstanding new program and for outstanding achievement in drama.

Both air on ABC, whose “Nightline” news program received the group’s Heritage Award.

Among the other winners were Bob Newhart for career achievement and Jon Stewart of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” for comedy.

The association is made up of over 200 reporters and columnists from the U.S. and Canada.
