The National Merit Scholarship Corp. of Evanston announced the semifinalists in its 51st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The 16,000 high school students will have the opportunity to compete for 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards worth more than $33 million that will be awarded next spring.
