– In Friday’s Tempo section, the answers to the crossword puzzle contained an error. The answer given to the clue for 49 Down: CLOSET LINER was: CEDER. The correct spelling should have been: CEDAR.

Spelled correctly, the answer to the clue for 61 Across: PITCHER IN PICTURE? which was: EWER would not have worked.

– A story on Page 1 Wednesday incorrectly noted that Canada Geese were thought to be extinct in the 1950s. Although the species’ population was greatly reduced in the early 20th Century, only a subspecies of the Canada Geese, the giant Canada Goose, was thought to be extinct in the 1950s.

– An item that ran on Page 11 of the Near Northwest Metro section on Friday misidentified Niles Sgt. Jim Elenz as the chief of the department.

– The caption information that accompanied a photo of a Payless sneaker on the March 8 Tempo/WomanNews style page was incorrect. The shoe pictured was the Payless Silver Sport and retails for $19.99.
