A Lansing man was convicted Tuesday of public indecency for inappropriately touching himself while viewing adult pornography in the Nichols Public Library in Naperville.
DuPage Judge Brian McKillip will sentence Timothy Hansen, 24, Dec. 1.
Prosecutors asked for a 90-day County Jail sentence, sex offender counseling, probation and a ban from visiting the library, while the defense attorney asked for counseling and for no jail sentence. The maximum sentence would be a year in the County Jail.
The incident occurred on Nov. 8, 2005. Library officials notified police after a college student alerted them to Hansen’s actions.
Last year McKillip banned a Naperville man from using library computers or entering children’s library sections in DuPage County for two years after he pleaded guilty to fondling himself while viewing pornography on a Naperville Public Library computer.
Richard Blaszak, 34, was convicted of public indecency for a May 18, 2004, incident, observed by several teenage boys in the adjacent children’s section. Blaszak was sentenced to two years of sex-offender probation, three days in the sheriff’s work program and counseling.
