A Bensenville man captured this week after a chase in which he allegedly rammed five police squad cars was held Friday in lieu of $2.35 million bail, authorities said.

Sandro Caban, 32, was charged with attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault, home invasion, resisting arrest and other offenses, authorities said.

Caban was captured Wednesday after a woman in Schiller Park reported a suspicious man outside her window. During a chase, Caban’s car hit police cruisers, injuring an officer, who was hospitalized, and then Caban fought with officers as they tried to arrest him, authorities said.

Caban is charged in an assault on a woman in her home in Schiller Park in January 2005 and a burglary in that community in July, police said.

Caban, a shipping and receiving clerk, has prior convictions for forgery and is on probation for burglary, authorities said.
