Summary: Jacquez Williams gave Carver (4-14, 1-5) its only lead at 3-2 early in first quarter. Simeon (14-2, 6-0) responded with 13-0 run, led by Kevin Johnson’s 5 points.

Top performers: Simeon–Tim Flowers had 13 points and 16 rebounds; Johnson had 11 points. Carver–Antonio Lofton had 18 points, 7 rebounds.

The Bonus: “I knew it was going to be a hard game coming back after last night [against Oak Hill],” Simeon coach Robert Smith said.

Summary: Playing without 2 starters, Ramblers (18-0, 4-0) got big lift from bench as they cruised to 18th straight win. Jack Joyce scored 7 of his 12 during 15-0 first-quarter run.

Top performers: Loyola–Matt Sullivan had 14 points off bench; Joyce added 12. Gordon Tech–Lamont Swopes had 9 points.

The Bonus: “[Friday night] was a lot of fun. Everyone got to play and we all played well,” Sullivan said.

Summary: In attempt to defeat St. Joseph for first time since 1994, Marist (13-7, 4-3) took 55-54 lead with 2:43 to play. St. Joseph (15-2, 6-1) regained lead on Demetri McCamey layup with 2:17 left,

Top performers: St. Joseph–McCamey had 16 points and Garrett Leffelman added 13. Marist–Will Wright had 31 points, including 11 of 12 free throws.

The Bonus: “It was not really a designed play,” said McCamey of his layup. “I was actually going to rebound. I called Evan [Turner], and he made a good pass.”

Summary: Down 14-12 with 6:20 left in second quarter, Glenbard East (16-1, 7-0) used 17-0 run to take 29-14 lead. Mike Capocci had 3 three-pointers in row during run.

Top performers: Thornton–Morris had 17 points, 4 steals; Mustapha Farrakhan had 17 points, 3 steals. Thornridge–Lee Fisher had 16 points.

The Bonus: “They tried to slow the tempo so they would have a better chance of winning,” Morris said. “We turned up the defensive intensity.”

Summary: Cedric Coenic had 16 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks as Clark (11-10, 3-3) pulled off road upset. Crane fell to 13-4, 3-3.

Top performers: Clark–Marvelous Hare scored 14 points, including six free throws in fourth quarter.

The Bonus: Three-pointer by Christopher Crump midway through third quarter gave Eagles lead they didn’t relinquish.

Summary: Thunderbirds (13-2, 6-0) raced to 28-8 first-quarter lead to take control early. Trey Blue scored 11 in that quarter. Host Rebels (1-14, 0-5) cut lead to 74-64 late in game.

Top performers: Thornwood–Reggie Hamilton had 17 points and Trey Blue and Graylin Smith each had 15. T.F. South–A.J. Locke scored 19.

The Bonus: “After two weeks off we came out energized and some of the rust showed in the second half,” Blue said.

Summary: Evanston (12-7, 5-1) opened second half with 8 points from Devrce Brown in 14-0 run to take 39-28 lead. Wildkits outscored Maine South (10-7, 2-4) 21-5 in fourth.

Top performers: Evanston–Brown had 14 points while Golden and Darrick Weeks each had 10. Maine South–Ryan Carmichael had 16 points.

The Bonus: “After we led in the first quarter, we relaxed and ended up trailing at halftime,” Brown said.
