BASEBALL’S TOP 10
RK, TEAM
1. New Trier (21-1): Trey Frahler improved to 6-0 with a six-inning shutout in a 10-0 romp over Maine West. The Trevians outscored opponents 42-2 in six wins this week.
2. Carmel (20-5): Split a doubleheader with Benet as Jordan Sivertsen hit a two-run homer in the opening-game loss. John Zeffery scored twice and had an RBI double in the second game.
3. Mt. Carmel (20-4): Swept De La Salle — 12-0 and 5-2 — as Tony Manville moved to 4-2 and Kevin Moriarty hit a grand slam. Later, Manville homered twice in support of Kevin Johnson (3-0).
4. St. Rita (20-5): Pounded out 25 hits in 8-1 and 13-3 (six innings) wins against Fenwick. Ken Stoklosa and Tony Zych each had four hits and three RBIs on the day.
5. Willowbrook (20-4): Swept Addison Trail as Brian Hennig and Brian Sherry each had two RBIs behind Dan Scahill (3-0). Curtis Hudson improved to 8-0 with a two-hitter in the finale.
6. Minooka (20-6): Enjoyed a couple of days off after beating Romeoville 10-0 Thursday. Austin Lehmann improved to 5-2 with three-hit shutout. Andrew Trepel hit his first two homers.
7. Benet (14-5): The Redwings split with Carmel after scoring in five of six innings in a 7-4 Game 1 win. Sophomore Pat Gelwicks went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored.
8. Marist (20-5): Split with St. Viator with 12-2 Game 1 win and 16-2 loss. Mike Vucsko improved to 4-3 in Game 1 and hit a two-run homer.
9. Lyons (21-6): Josh Heller moved to 4-0 with a 2-0, three-hit shutout of Hinsdale South. Luke Gacek went 3-for-4 and scored both runs on wild pitches. 10. Richards (19-5): Shut out Homewood-Flossmoor 1-0 Friday behind Kevin Lee (3-1), who threw six innings of four-hit baseball. Chris Kemp provided two hits, a walk and a run scored.
SOFTBALL’S TOP 10

1. Sandburg (21-1): Swept Minooka 4-1, 7-2 as Sara Olson struck out 20 in Game 1. Olson and Andrea Colosimo combined for seven hits and eight RBIs on the day.
2. Glenbard North (25-1): Beat Ottawa 2-0 behind Stephanie Lori’s pitching and hitting of Michelle Batts and Sara McGowan. Edged East Peoria 4-3 as Hannah Santora improved to 18-0.
3. Barrington (25-3): Claire Voris (24-2) fired a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts for a school-record 19th shutout in the Fillies’ 9-0 victory over Hoffman Estates on Friday.
4. Lake Park (19-3): Prevailed over No. 8 Marist 2-1 in eight innings Friday thanks to a game-winning double by Nicole Dimiceli (2-for-3). Missy Mazur (16-2) was the winning pitcher.
5. Lincoln-Way Central (23-3): Won its triangular in New Lenox, beating New Trier 10-3 as Gabe Gavoni had three hits and then ripping Downers North 11-1 as Carly DeMarco had three hits.
6. Beecher (20-3): Megan Wille (9-0) had 14 strikeouts during the Ladycats’ 8-0 victory over Peotone on Thursday. Jill Jacobson (3-for-4) and Jenna Grim paced the offense.
7. Plainfield Central (19-5): The longball barrage continued in a 4-1 win over Glenbard South. Tricia Nelson hit a two-run shot and Brittany Adcox was the winning pitcher.
8. Marist (18-4): The Redhawks fell 9-7 to St. Viator but rallied to win the nightcap 7-0. Colleen Biebel twirled a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts in Game 2 while Cassie Cappetto had three RBIs.
9. Oak Park (21-4): Ace Seana Stillson’s three-hitter led the Huskies past No. 10 Lockport 4-0. In Game 2, Alex Morocco was 4-for-4 in Oak Park’s 9-3 win for Huskies’ ninth straight.
10. Lockport (13-8): One day after defeating Lemont and All-State pitcher Suzie Rzegocki, the Porters and their deep pitching staff were pounded by Oak Park for 13 runs and 17 hits.
GIRLS SOCCER’S TOP 10

1. Waubonsie Valley (20-0-1): Won its third consecutive Lemont Cup with a 2-0 win over Homewood-Flossmoor. Kylee Rodriguez scored and assisted on Vanessa DiBernardo’s goal.
2. St. Charles North (12-2): The next game for the North Stars, who captured the Barrington tournament title, is Monday against South Elgin.
3. Neuqua Valley (16-3): The Wildcats, on a seven-game winning streak, host No. 7 St. Charles East on Tuesday. Ashley Marrapode had two goals in their last game, a 7-0 victory over Streamwood.
4. Hinsdale Central (14-3-1): The Red Devils, like so many other teams, had a day off for prom. Hinsdale Central next faces Naperville Central on Tuesday. 5. Downers Grove South (12-4-2): Kristina Magda has contributed six goals and seven assists this season. The Mustangs are No. 4 seed in the difficult Hinsdale South sectional.
6. Wheaton Warrenville South (10-4-3): The Tigers wind up the regular season Saturday against Hinsdale Central. Laura Heaton scored to salvage a 1-1 tie with Downers South on Wednesday.
7. St. Charles East (12-2-1): Cara (or is it Kara?) attack: Cara Morawski’s two goals helped Saints beat Bartlett 4-0 on Thursday. Kara Nitti, who also scored, has 16 for season.
8. Lake Forest (9-3-4): Rachel Quon, assisted by fellow sophomore Annie Evans, scored to give the Scouts a 1-1 tie at Buffalo Grove in a non-conference match.
9. Stevenson (12-1): Lauren Thut and Cory Steigerwald each scored twice in 8-0 victory over Deerfield on Friday. Steigerwald also had two assists. Patriots next face Warren on Monday.
10. Fremd (13-4): Two long kicks by Austin Henning led to goals by Caroline VanAcker and Susan Plager in a 3-1 victory over Barrington for the Mid-Suburban West title.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL’S TOP 10
RK, TEAM
1. Brother Rice (28-0): Scott Manthei earned all-tournament honors as the Crusaders swept five matches at Lincoln-Way East. The Catholic League finals loom in two weeks.
2. New Trier (21-4): The Trevians toppled Maine South in Thursday’s Central Suburban South showdown. They will play in their final tournament of the season Saturday at Richards.
3. Mundelein (29-1): It will be a quiet week for the Mustangs with just one match, but it’s a big one as they go for their 30th victory of season Wednesday at North Chicago.
4. Naperville North (25-5): Sandburg and Lincoln-Way East spoiled the Huskies’ bid for a tournament title. They could clinch the DuPage Valley with a Tuesday victory over Wheaton South.
5. Lincoln-Way East (27-4): The Griffins gave Brother Rice a battle in the Lincoln-Way East title game but ultimately fell in a close match. John Bortoli and Mario Vivona were all-tournament.
6. Wheaton Warrenville South (21-4): The Tigers could claim a piece of the DuPage Valley lead with a Tuesday victory over Naperville North.
7. Neuqua Valley (25-3): It’s a busy week ahead as the Wildcats have four matches on their slate, starting with Monday’s non-conference match at Prospect.
8. Maine South (20-7): The top-seeded Hawks were forced to forfeit a match in the Buckeye Classic in Ohio due to IHSA limits on out-of-state games, but they bounced back to finished ninth.
9. Oak Lawn (24-6): A pool-play loss kept the Spartans out of the Lincoln-Way East championship bracket and they eventually fell to Lincoln-Way Central for fifth place.
10. Providence (15-2): The Celtics hit the road this week for matches at Mt. Carmel (Monday), Lincoln-Way East (Wednesday) and at Saturday’s Deerfield Invitational.
