After a series of legal setbacks, a developer on Friday dropped a lawsuit that accused the city of forcing him out as manager of the Bridgeport Village development because he refused to take orders from the mayor’s political allies.

Thomas Snitzer sued the city in federal court last year, alleging that he had been punished for refusing to stop acquiring real estate that ward power brokers intended for others and pay more money to Thomas DiPiazza, a politically connected consultant. City officials have said they wanted Snitzer out because of building code violations.

A federal judge previously dismissed Snitzer’s charges against DiPiazza and Timothy Degnan, a former top aide to Mayor Richard Daley. The only remaining charge was a civil rights count against the city and former Building Commissioner Stan Kaderbek.
