Funeral Mass for LaVerne E. Kubik will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009 at 10 a.m. at 2318 N. Cascade Ave. in Colorado Springs.
Following the Mass, Graveside Services will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 1000 S. 26th St. inColorado Springs.LaVerne Kubik went to be with our Lord Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the age of 78, in San Antonio, Texas.
LaVerne Kubik was born on Oct. 25, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew and Marie(Koprowski) Kowalski.
She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, St. Joseph High School and graduated from St. Gabriel High School in 1947.
LaVerne married John B.Kubik on Sept.
29, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois.
She was a licensed hairdresser and cosmetologist, a professional drapery seamstress, and homemaker.
Her greatest leadership accomplishments were in the area of community service.
She served as President of the James J. Zientek American Legion, Post 419, Women’s Auxiliary in Chicago from 1965 until 1967.
After retiring to Colorado Springs, she served as President of the Pikes Peak Chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers Women’s Auxiliary from 1985 until 1995.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John.LaVerne moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1998 to be close to her son’s family.
She lived at the Madison Estates Retirement Community where she had many dear friends.
She was active in her church group and was devoted to weekly Rosary services.
LaVerne is survived by daughter Doris K. Donati and her husband, Frank of Westmont, Illinois; son Wendell John Kubik and his wife, Jeana of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren, Mark Kubik, FrankDonati, Steve Kubik, Lauren Donati and Nick Kubik.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at theSwan Law Funeral Home, 501 N Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado beginning at 5 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a contribution to The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows at 9480 N.De Mazenod Dr., Belleville, IL 62223-1160 or The Odyssey Hospice House at 13431 Blanco Rd., San Antonio, TX 78216.
