The father left the stands and walked to the sideline, apparently in search of coach James Stuglis. Players and assistant coaches stepped in and stopped the parent , who was calmly escorted to out of the stadium.
The chaos began after Lake Zurich recovered an onside kick to secure a 30-28 victory. A frustrated Crystal Lake South player was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and ejected. Referees escorted him to the sideline, where his coach was waiting.
Unhappy with his player’s outburst, Stuglis grabbed the player by the jersey and gave him an aggressive, verbal lashing. Minutes later, the parentlooked to be working his way toward Stuglis.
“Ah well, you know emotions, that’s all,” Stuglis said. “When your season is on the line emotions are going to get the best of you and that’s going to happen with young kids. I don’t know (if it was me he went after); it’s not important.”
No arrests were made.
