The Elgin Courier-News reports: An Elgin man has been sentenced to three years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to charges he threatened a judge during a bond hearing in April.

Alex S. Barrera, 23, was accused in April of making the verbal threat while on a video hookup between the judge’s courtroom at city hall and the city jail across the street, at the same time making a shooting motion at the judge.
