An email sent to parents of New Trier High School about inappropriate student dress may have raised more eyebrows than the actual apparel worn at the school.
“While we want adolescents to develop their own style of dress, we feel that some students are overstepping the boundaries and making the educational atmosphere uncomfortable for others,” according to the email, co-signed by the principals of both the district’s campuses.
But district spokeswoman Nicole Dizon said there actually haven’t been any issues of students violating the dress code this year.
And while the email said students may be asked to put on a covering sweatshirt or sweatpants — or even be asked to go home and change — that hasn’t happened.
