America’s gospel choirs raise their voices in praise, in hopes of being chosen the next top choir in the How Sweet the Sound competition. Judges rate the ensembles on song selection, presentation and appearance (bonus points for raising the roof on the United Center as choirs did at last year’s competition). Judges include contemporary gospel powerhouses Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond. How Sweet the Sound is hosted by Grammy winners Donald Lawrence and CeCe Winans.

Why go: You can’t beat the price to see so many gospel greats perform in one place.

Reconsider: It will be a test of endurance as the powerful singing goes late on a school night.

Details: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Center, 1901 W. Madison St.; $10-$15; 800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
