CTA Red Line trains were running unimpeded again this morning after a power problem caused major delays southbound for about 45 minutes.

The power problems near the Belmont and Fullerton stations that slowed trains coming into those stations were fixed shortly after 9 a.m., said CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles.

Red, Brown and Purple Line trains were still running and making stops during the power problem but experiencing delays in both directions when they approached those stations, Myles said.

She did not know if there would be residual delays even though trains were running at normal speeds once again.

Passengers at the Howard station said they were told to leave a Red Line train and were sent to buses.

A ComEd spokeswoman said the problem was on the CTA’s end, not the utility’s.
