GO Airport Express’s recent survey

, 82 percent of 702 respondents said they booked in advance for travel savings.

Other ways travelers saved money:

* 25 percent used frequent flyer points

* 25 percent reduced the amount of luggage

* 17 percent fly during off-peak times (such as Tuesday or Wednesday or taking flights with longer travel times for cheaper rates)

* 7 percent book a connecting flight instead of a direct flight

Six percent said “none of the above” and 7 percent said “all of the above,” but others had additional tips like using buddy passes, online comparison shopping and using a corporate program through their jobs.

“With fluctuating airfares and a still shaky economy, finding ways to reign in travel costs seems to be a priority for most people,” says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express, in a press release.
