Recap: William & Mary 34, Pennsylvania 28
William & Mary 34, Pennsylvania 28: Brent Caprio tossed two touchdown passes and Keith McBride rushed for 97 yards and collected his third score of the season as the visiting Tribe outlasted the Quakers.
After Drake Kuhn’s 26-yard field goal capped a 13-play, 63-yard drive to start the second quarter for William & Mary (2-4), the Tribe took advantage of a muffed punt on Pennsylvania’s 11-yard line. Darnell Laws made the Quakers (1-3) pay for the miscue by rumbling in from a 1-yard out to give the Tribe a 17-7 lead.
Pennsylvania’s Jeff Jack, who scored a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter, fumbled on the first play of the ensuing drive. Caprio found Tre McBride for a 22-yard scoring strike with 12 seconds left in the second half as the Tribe claimed a 24-7 advantage.
Caprio found Sean Ballard for a 5-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter before quarterback Billy Ragone rushed for a 5-yard score and tossed a 15-yard touchdown to bring the Quakers to within six at 34-28.
Ragone drove Pennsylvania to the William & Mary 24, but a sack and subsequent spike to stop the clock forced an ill-fated desperation heave as time expired.
