Texas Christian 47, Navy 45: Devonta Abron tied his career high with 13 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the host Horned Frogs past the Midshipmen in a contest that is part of the South Padre Invitational.

Abronâ??s basket with 4:37 to play put the Horned Frogs (4-1) ahead to stay as the start of a decisive 6-0 run. Navy (2-3) had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but Brandon Venturiniâ??s 3-pointer bounced off the rim.

Worth Smith had 14 points and eight rebounds, Venturini scored 12 points and Tilman Dunbar added 10 for the Midshipmen.

Texas Christian used a 9-2 run early in the second half to take a 32-30 lead on Abronâ??s basket with 12:52 to play. A basket by Smith forged a 40-40 tie before Abron got loose inside to score the go-ahead hoop. Jarvis Ray and Garlon Green followed with baskets to give the Horned Frogs a 46-40 lead with 2:08 to play.

Navy led by as many as seven in the first half and had a 26-23 advantage at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Abron, a transfer from Arkansas, was averaging 4.8 points and 4.8 rebounds prior to his breakout performance. â? The Midshipmen were just 4-of-15 from 3-point range. â? Navy was just 3-of-11 from the free-throw line. TCU was 9-for-15.
