Ravinia Festival music director James Conlon has extended his contract as music director of the Los Angeles Opera through the 2017-18 season, the company has announced. By that time the conductor will have been with the company for 11 seasons, a period that so far has marked significant artistic growth.
Conlon, who will turn 63 in March, has led 33 different operas in Los Angeles, including 18 company premieres and two U.S. premieres, for a total of 190 performances.
His present contract with Ravinia extends through the 2014 summer season.
