Winnetka police are warning local merchants and residents to watch for a man who unlawfully entered three stores Sept. 19 between 11 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. in the village’s downtown central business district.
When the man was confronted, he implied he was making a delivery, according to police.
While rummaging through valuables at one store, the man was interrupted by a business owner and a brief struggle took place before the man left, police said.
The intruder is described as a black male in his mid-30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build, shaved or close-cropped hair, and wearing a black jacket and black pants, police said. They urged merchants to keep the back doors to their businesses locked.
