A 62-year-old woman died in a car crash early this morning in the South Side’s Gresham neighborhood, authorities said.
Laura Philpot, of the 5600 block of South May Street, was the only occupant of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when it struck a fire hydrant in the 8300 block of South Racine Avenue, authorities said.
Philpot was pronounced dead at St. Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center at 2:12 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
