MESA, Ariz. — The Chicago Cubs have traded minor league outfielder Trevor Gretzky to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for catcher Matt Scioscia in a deal involving sons of famous former athletes.
The Los Angeles Times reported the deal, which the Cubs have yet to confirm. Gretzky, 21, the son of former hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, has a .280 batting average with only one home run in 250 minor league at-bats.
Scioscia, 25, the son of Angels manager Mike Scioscia, has a .222 batting average over three minor league seasons. Scioscia played at Notre Dame.
