TOKYO — Actor/director

” will open the 11th edition of the
International D-Cinema Festival, organizers announced today in Tokyo.
The musical drama (pictured) about an Afghanistan War vet’s return to his family in Scotland will be released in
on August 1 following its Japanese premiere at Skip City, which unspools July 19-27 in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture.
The pioneering digital film fest will also present 12 pics in its feature length competition,including the Brazilian drama “The Way He Looks,” winner of the FIPRESCI prize in the 2014 Berlinale Panorama, as well as Natsuka’s Kusano’s “Antonym” and Yoshio Kato’s “Friendship,” both prize winners in the Nippon Connection fest’s Nippon Visions competition section this year.
Other Skip City competition sections are Short Length (12 domestic shorts) and Animation (14 domestic animated shorts).
