Leaving an assignment at Northwestern University, I walked back to my car along the lakefront (free parking!).

The sunlight faded away on a crisp fall day. Looking east toward Lake Michigan, colorful bands of red and orange and purple streched across the water. A bright, nearly full moon rose slowly above the horizon.

I noticed the windsurfer with the rainbow sail gliding back and forth, north and south. I hoped she wouldn’t give up for the evening before I made it to the water’s edge.

She stayed just long enough for me to reach the end of the beach and lower my camera right above the water. She made her turn in front of the moon and I got a couple frames before she sailed off again.
