The opening night ratings showed Chicago really was pumped up for the start of the Blackhawks season Thursday.
The Blackhawks’ 3-2 overtime victory over Dallas did a 5.4 rating on Comcast SportsNet, the highest ever for a season opener on the network. The rating peaked at 8:45 p.m. with more than 225,000 homes tuning in.
Hockey also got off to a good start on the national level. Nearly 1 million viewers tuned into NBCSN for the Philadelphia-Boston game Wednesday, the most ever for an opening night on cable.
