The following items were collected from reports released by the Oak Park Police Department.
A 16-year-old Chicago boy was arrested at 4:38 p.m. Oct. 16 on the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue for the robbery of an Oak Park boy that happened that day on the 100 block of South Wesley Avenue. He was released to a parent.
A resident of the 300 block of North Taylor Avenue confronted a man 35 to 39 years old who was pulling a snowblower and carrying a black cloth bag full of tools out of the resident’s garage at 1:50 p.m. Oct. 15. The thief left the snowblower, ran south in the alley and entered a newer, champagne-colored sport-utility vehicle. The loss of the tools was $500.
A 39-year-old Oak Park man was charged last week with aggravated battery to a child on the 0-100 block of Washington Boulevard on Sept. 25.
A 34-year-old Chicago man was charged with domestic battery of an Oak Park resident that happened Oct. 15 on the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue.
A 69-year-old man was found dead in his home on the 400 block of North Harlem Avenue at 9 a.m. Oct. 12. His death was not suspicious.
A 39-year-old Chicago man was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle that happened on the 200 block of South Taylor Avenue at 2:33 p.m. Oct. 13.
A 39-year-old Northlake man was arrested at 12:31 a.m. Oct. 13 on the 7100 block of North Avenue on a Darien warrant for driving under the influence.
A 27-year-old Chicago resident was charged with driving under the influence when stopped on the 200 block of Washington Boulevard at 11:20 p.m. Oct. 10.
A 38-year-old Bellwood man was charged Oct. 10 with domestic battery that happened March 23 on the 1100 block of South East Avenue.
A 65-year-old Chicago man was arrested Oct. 10 by Chicago police on the 5100 block of South Wentworth on an Oak Park warrant for retail theft.
A resident of a home on the 1000 block of South Harvey came home at 12:57 p.m. Oct. 16 as two men were leaving the home. The men had pried open the front door and stolen jewelry and a 1-1/2-inch, 24-karat ankh symbol, with a combined value of $2,000. The men entered a brown 2000 Ford Expedition occupied by a third man. The vehicle went east on Garfield Street.
Two bicycles valued at $1,000 were stolen between 1 p.m. Oct. 14 and 6:30 a.m. Oct. 15 out of a garage on the 900 block of Wesley Avenue where the overhead door had been left open. The bikes were a men’s 18-speed Giant and a women’s silver, 18-speed Lamonde.
A black Phillips 55-inch, flat-screen television set; a black 37-inch Insignia flat-screen television set; flower-print Innokin I-Taste e-cigarette vaporizer; and miscellaneous jewelry — with a combined value of $4,075 — were stolen between 1:30 and 4:17 p.m. Oct. 14 out of a home on the 1000 block of South East Avenue where the deadbolt lock was pried on the back door.
A car alarm sounded when a man entered an unlocked garage on the 300 block of South Cuyler Avenue and tried to break into the locked vehicle inside the building at 6:38 a.m. Oct. 14. Nothing was taken.
A white-and-gray Raleigh bicycle valued at $600 was stolen between 8 p.m. Oct.10 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 out of an unlocked garage on the 300 block of South Oak Park Avenue. Also $10 in coins were stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the garage.
Nothing was reported missing out of a garage on the 700 block of North Cuyler Avenue where the side door was forced open and items moved around between 10 a.m. Oct. 10 and 9:42 a.m. Oct 11.
A blue-and-silver Giant bicycle was stolen between 9:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 10 out of a garage on the 200 block of North Ridgeland Avenue where the side door was forced open. Damage and loss are $600.
An employee of a moving company is suspected of stealing an Apple iPad Air valued at $500 out of a home on the 300 block of North Taylor Avenue between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Oct. 5. The resident added someone tried that at midnight Oct. 15 to change his iTunes password, which may be related to the theft.
A package containing two sweaters and a pullover shirt valued at $173.37 was stolen between 8 a.m. and 10:08 p.m. Oct. 15 out of the common area of an apartment building on the 1000 block of South Austin Boulevard. The package and clothes were found a short distance away.
A boy’s black-and-red Fuji Absolute bicycle valued at $669.99 was stolen between 7:50 a.m. and 3:05 p.m. Oct. 14 where it was locked to the bleachers by the tennis courts of Oak Park and River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville Ave.
A green 2003 Dodge van that was stolen Oct. 10 on the 100 block of Lake Street was found Oct. 12 by Chicago police on the 5700 block of Huron Street.
A pink-and-orange wallet containing cards and a driver’s license was stolen between 12:45 and 1 p.m. Oct. 12 from a shelf at the Old Navy store, 417 N. Harlem Ave. The loss was $62.53.
Someone stole $1,178 out of a locked safe in a supervisor’s office at the cafeteria of West Suburban Hospital, Erie Street and Austin Boulevard, between Oct. 9 and 11.
A River Forest woman’s backpack and purse were stolen between 8 and 11:30 p.m. Oct. 11 on the 800 block of South Oak Park Avenue. The purse contained $350; an iPad 64GB and case; Apple iPod2; wallet Hot Spot; credit and debit cards; two checkbooks; gift cards; two tape recorders; and headphones. The loss was $2,890.
A green-and-white Schwinn Trailway bicycle valued at $40 was stolen between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Oct. 10 on the 1100 block of South Kenilworth Avenue where a lock was cut.
The glass was damaged to the rear door of a building on the 100 block of Forest Place between 3:15 and 3:40 a.m. Oct. 12. Damage was $500.
Paint was sprayed between 12:01 and 5 a.m. Oct. 11 on the east wall on the second story of the Ridgeland Common building on the 400 block of Lake Street and on the door leading to the roof area of the building. Damage amount was unknown.
Black paint was used to write a word on the outside of the portable toilet and a white garbage can on the grounds of Oak Park and River Forest High School, 500 block of Lake Street, between 12:01 a.m. and 6:26 p.m. Oct. 11. The same word was written with a yellow marker on the metal frame of a soccer goal.
The front windshield was broken between 11:30 a.m. Oct 9 and 6:40 a.m. Oct, 10 on a vehicle parked behind the 200 block of Lake Street. Damage was $250.
