Here I am wandering off of the conservative plantation again. After thinking about this subject long and hard I have come to the conclusion that the internet has become such an integral part of our creative and intellectual culture, as is, that to allow carriers to now pick and choose who and what gets the best access would put a debilitating crimp in a structure that has served all of us so well. While my natural inclination is to allow free markets to do what they do best, in this instance I have to say ‘no’. Following the ham handed throttling of Netflix by Comcast I am led to believe that the carriers, as they are today, would abuse and, essentially, destroy the free form exchange of ideas that makes the internet the marvel of our age.
