The Chicago Tribune Media Group’s Lincolnshire Review reports: One of the essences of education is to take an underutilized asset — could be a teenaged brain or a space in a building — and fill it with purpose. Jon Grice, the director of fine arts at Stevenson High School, is hoping he can bring new utility to those assets before the 50th graduating class leaves for the summer.

“This is something that we believe can inspire future generations, for the next 50 years and beyond,” Grice said.

The inspiration he spoke of will be a giant stained-glass window commemorating SHS’s gold anniversary, which Grice hopes to have in place above the sport center entrance by the end of May. The work of art should, if all goes well, beautify an underutilized space, enlighten its observers and bring added recognition to a young student.
