A 19-year-old Oak Lawn man was charged with burglary and a juvenile also was arrested, both for stealing candy from a concession stand at Kolb Field in Oak Lawn, police said.
A third person who fled the scene was still at large as of Wednesday, police said in a news release.
Jesse Schutt, 19, of the 9600 block of Mansfield Avenue, was charged with felony burglary, while the juvenile was to be petitioned into juvenile court for his role in the burglary, police said. Schutt was released on an I bond after appearing Tuesday at the Cook County courthouse in Bridgeview, police said.
While on patrol about 3:30 p.m. Monday in the 9800 block of Central Avenue, a police officer saw someone in the fenced-in area of Kolb Field near the concession stand, police said. As the officer tried to make contact with the individual, that person and two others whom the officer saw inside the stand fled, police said.
The officer caught and detained two of the subjects, and an investigation determined the three had forced open the concession stand door and had stolen candy, police said.
“Miscellaneous candy” was recovered nearby, Oak Lawn Police Division Chief Randy Palmer said Wednesday.
Palmer said the burglary may be linked to one at the same concession stand between June 16 and 18.
