Infants in the neonatal intensive care unit at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora will get some special gifts, thanks to an Aurora church.
During worship services Jan. 17, congregants at Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora brought sleep clothes, blankets and plush toys to the altar to be donated to children at the hospital.
The donations highlighted a second annual “Pajamuary” worship service. Worshipers were invited to don pajamas or casual clothes for the service.
The Rev. Deborah Tinsley Taylor, church pastor, displayed donated items during the service.
“Donating clothes and toys for babies in Rush-Copley’s ICU is our way of giving back to the community as we celebrate our 125th anniversary year in 2016,” she said.
The church is celebrating its 125th year in many ways in 2016, including an anniversary jubilee worship service at 10 a.m. April 24 at the church, 551 S. Fourth St. in Aurora.
