It appears the mayor wants all Chicago citizens to quit smoking by making it prohibitively expensive to light up. Here are a few ways to beat the city and county taxes.
1. Get three friends, rent a U-Haul van and go, for example, to Bradley, Ill. Stock up on your favorite tobacco products and then go shopping at the mall to bypass paying the highest sales tax in the country.
2. Shop online.
3. Go to the street corner where locals are selling loose cigarettes for a dollar and see if they will give you a price break on a pack or carton.
The mayor will not rob me of my freedom to enjoy tobacco at a reasonable cost.
