The Chicago River is known for being filled with gross things, but on Thursday, all eyes were on the horde of rubber ducks that claimed the river as their own.

Special Olympics Illinois hosted the 11th Annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby on Thursday. The derby hosts over 60,000 rubber duckies in a race to see which one can make it across the finish line first—not an easy task when you are small, rubber and inanimate. Participants can “adopt” a duck for $5 each.

We can only imagine how [bleep]ing stoked Elmo would be if he were here to witness it.

Last year’s event got more than 57,000 rubber ducks in the river, raising more than $400,000 for Special Olympics Illinois. The organization offers training in 19 sports for more than 22,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
