Terms determined by elections
This is about the comment in favor of term limits. The caller said that if politicians have three or four terms, they become corrupt. How would you have liked to have had term limits during World War II? Would you have wanted President Roosevelt to leave and get someone else in there during the middle of that mess? Hey guys, we have term limits. They are called elections.
Two news anchors
How about the local television news media? They have two anchors. Why do you need two news anchors? They can’t be tired. They only talk four to five minutes and then get a break when the commercial comes on. Why do they have two anchors who get big money? How would you like to work five minutes and then get a break?
Pulling the plug on part-time pensions
I’m calling about county board pensions nixed. Amen is all I have to say. For years, the politicians, big and small, have been collecting pensions for being aldermen or commissioners. For these people, these positions are all part-time jobs. Why do they get full medical, dental, expense accounts and retirement for a part-time job? Most of these people only put in 10 to 15 hours a week. There are a few exceptions. They make a pretty hefty chunk of change for a part-time job. It’s ridiculous. Now that they nixed the pensions, you will see less people applying for these positions. Watch and see. It’s been a gravy train for many people.
Lives lost
The anniversary of 9/11 has come. It was the worst attack on our country since Pearl Harbor. Let me give you the facts. Pearl Harbor was a military installation. I was a crew chief on a B-47. We knew we were a target because we were a military organization. During 9/11, buildings were knocked down in New York and (nearly 3,000) people died. Can you imagine that? During World War II, think about the bombings in England. Russia lost 3 million people in Stalingrad alone. The town was leveled. What happened to the United States during World War II? Nothing was touched except for the military installation in Pearl Harbor.
