To Republicans complaining you can’t take another eight years of President Barack Obama: You’ve had eight years of stonewalling by a Republican U.S. Congress that’s done nothing. Before that, there were eight years of a Republican Congress with a Republican president, George W. Bush, that ran our country into the sewer. If you thought that was great, you aren’t smart. Now they’re coming back for a short fall session. They haven’t done much of anything for the last 16 years. What difference does it make? Now you’re going to blame Obama. Give me a break. Some commenter says we should look at history and study. Then we’d know what we’re talking about. That’s a good idea. He should try it.

No, Joe from Alsip, the world isn’t shocked about both of the major parties’ nominees for president. They are truly puzzled how a man like Donald Trump could become a major party nominee. His type usually belongs to a fringe party on the right in developed nations. Most of the world actually respects Hillary Clinton. Her service as our secretary of state, along with her knowledge of how the world actually works, makes her someone those outside the United States see as world leader material. They do not see a bombastic, ill-informed businessman as leadership material. They fear for the stability of the world if Trump is elected. My travels in Europe this summer showed me this first-hand.

Here’s a suggestion for Terry from Mount Greenwood: Come over to the White Sox side. You live on the South Side anyway, and you have obviously perfected the suffering routine. At least the White Sox have won a World Series in this century, so we know they can go all the way. Give it a try. You might feel right at home with the rest of us frustrated sports fans on the South Side. (Go Bears.)

Jeb and George W. Bush voting for Clinton epitomizes why people are fed up with the Republican Party. The GOP is a bunch of turncoats. Another example is John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Once they became speaker of the House, they side with Obama on some major issues. No wonder Trump has become popular. He hit a nerve with the Republicans.

I wrote to the Southtown weeks ago suggesting using “stop and frisk” in Cook County. Now I see Trump is backing the same, only “nationally.” I thought only of our problem, but it’s not a bad idea to enforce it nationally, seeing all the outbreaks of shooting violence. Like I said, well before Trump, “It really worked well for N.Y. and it’d do the same here.”

I just read a report stating that at least 50 percent of the rioters in Charlotte were from other states, so my question is why hasn’t the federal government charged anyone with sedition? There are many cases of charged sedition against Americans because of their activities in the United States. What is the difference with this? An incompetent federal justice system, or are all of these rioters Hillary supporters?

There were five more people killed by a Turkish Muslim in Seattle. We are at war in our country and under attack by Muslims. Why isn’t the media reporting that?

So, the “fundamental transformation” of the United States has almost been completed in the last eight years. It is now OK for rioters and looters to express their opinions. It is OK to dishonor the U.S. flag. But, it is not OK for a baseball player to express his opinion about the rioters and looters. Congratulations to all of the America haters. Now all we need is a reason for martial law and it will be complete.

For as long as I can remember, we’ve watched crowds of rioters and newfound terrorists around the world on the news. Those same scenes are all too familiar in our own local news. Shootings have become commonplace. A recent beheading and teen being burned are beyond disturbing. The violent demonstrations continue. We have become not very different from the rest of the world.
