A 26-year-old Montgomery man remains in Kane County Jail on $350,000 bail after being charged with arson in a Dec. 30 fire at his home on Stonegate Drive, court records show.
Christopher Gongora was arrested on New Year’s Eve on single counts of arson, residential arson and criminal damage to property. Charging documents state only that the fire caused greater than $150 in damage to the home. He is scheduled for a Jan. 11 court appearance before Kane County Judge D.J. Tegeler.
Gongora was free on a personal recognizance bond at the time of the fire following his October arrest on a charge of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine, court documents state. Tegeler granted Gongora’s release after a Nov. 1 bond-reduction hearing, but issued a warrant for him a week later when Gongora failed to show up for court, records show.
Should Gongora post bond to be released from jail, Tegeler has ordered him to have no contact with his home, to be placed on GPS monitoring, and to avoid alcohol or drug use.
