Sue Moylan will remain on the Gail Borden Public Library District ballot for the April 4 elections following an objection to her petition.

Randolph “Randy” Hopp, who is also running for the library board, had objected to Moylan’s nomination papers, saying her use of a forward slash on the not applicable sections of her statement of economic interest were insufficient to complete the paperwork.

The three-person Kane County Officers Electoral Board disagreed and ruled Friday that Moylan may stay on the ballot.

In a written decision, the board ruled that it “lacks jurisdiction” to determine the accuracy or completeness, nor the sufficiency of the responses, of a statement of economic interest. The board can only determine whether or not one has been filed, the decision said.

Moylan was one of four candidates for various offices across Kane County who on Wednesday defended their nomination packets — signed petitions and other various required forms — for the April 4 municipal elections.

The board also ruled that Alexander Perez, who was running for the East Aurora School District 131 board, must be removed from the ballot as his nomination papers did not include enough valid signatures.

Objections hearings for the nomination papers for two Fox River and Countryside Fire Protection District candidates — James Wegman and Michael Sanfranski — were continued to Thursday.
