The Oak Park Police Department is investigating four reported armed robberies that occurred over the first five days of 2017.
According to Oak Park police reports, the first robbery occurred between 11:23 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. Jan. 1 at 7-Eleven, 240 Chicago Ave. Two men, one armed with a “long barrel black older revolver,” entered the convenience store and stole cash and between four and five packs of cigarettes valued at $150 in total, police said.
The first suspect is described as 18 years old, standing between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a black scarf covering his face. The second suspect is described as between 18 and 20 years old, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9.
The following day, two men entered Domino’s Pizza, 329 Chicago Ave., between 7:43 p.m. and 7:44 p.m. The two men ordered the employee to open the register and stole an unknown amount of cash, police said.
The first suspect is described as a black man standing between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11, wearing a black ski mask and a black hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as a black man standing between 5-foot-11 and 6 feet tall, wearing a black ski mask with a black hooded sweatshirt.
Two armed robberies were then reported by pedestrians walking in the village on Thursday night.
At 7:05 p.m. Jan. 5, a woman walking in the 400 block of North Taylor Avenue reported someone grabbed her backpack. When she turned around, the woman reported someone was pointing a handgun at her and demanded everything she had, police said. The woman then dropped her iPhone 6 and $20 in cash on the sidewalk, which was picked up by a second suspect. Both suspects then left the area on foot.
The suspects, both male, were described as 16 years old, black and wearing black winter hats and dark clothing.
Later that night, at 7:45 p.m., two suspects approached a man in the 100 block of Berkshire Street, displayed a handgun and demanded his wallet, police said. The victim turned over his wallet, which contained $400 in cash and miscellaneous identification and credit cards, police said. Both suspects then fled the are on foot.
The suspects, both male, are described as 16 years old and standing approximately 5-foot-8 and wearing black clothing.
A message left with Oak Park police officers seeking additional information about the incidents was not immediately returned.
