Two individuals were taken into custody and a third person was being sought following a police chase Tuesday night in the southwest suburbs, officials said.

Kelvin Everett, 36, of Glenwood, appeared at the Cook County courthouse in Bridgeview Wednesday afternoon, charged with aggravated fleeing and alluding in connection with the police chase, prosecutors said.

Cook County Judge Peter Felice set Everett’s bail at $150,000.

It was not immediately clear Wednesday afternoon if the second person in custody has been charged.

The chase involved law enforcement personnel from several suburbs along with Illinois State Police, Cook County sheriff’s officers and the FBI, officials said.

The individuals were being pursued by police about 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle they were in crashed near 95th Street and Harlem Avenue near Bridgeview, though the incident did not begin in that suburb, a spokesman for Bridgeview police said.

Prosecutors said the three men ran a stop sign and sped through the Southfield Plaza, blowing out a tire after striking a curb as it fled. At one point, the vehicle was traveling 80 mph in a 20 mph zone, prosecutors said.

The vehicle tried to turn off Harlem at 95th when it lost control and spun around, prosecutors said.

The three tried to flee on foot but two were caught, including Everett who jumped a fence, prosecutors said.

Everett has at least six prior felony convictions, including several drug charges and a 2014 conviction for aggravated fleeing and alluding, prosecutors said. He received 30 months in state prison for the 2014 case.

A rifle and a Glock handgun, both with fully loaded magazines, were recovered from a bag in the car, prosecutors said. No one person has yet been tied to the bag. It was not known if the third person was armed.

No one was injured, the spokesman said.

An FBI spokesman issued the following statement: “The FBI, working with our local and state law enforcement partners, is involved in an active criminal investigation. There is no further information at this time.”

Everett is scheduled to return to Bridgeview court for a bail review on June 19.
