
Xander Miranda of River Grove is a fourth-grader at River Grove School who had a lemonade stand to raise funds for Harvey and Irma storm victims. He raised money during his block party on Sept. 9.
Q: Why did you want start a lemonade stand to raise money?
A: My mom told me all of the things that people lost due to Hurricane Harvey and Irma.
Q: Where will you donate your profits?
A: I will be donating them to Save the Children Fund.
Q: Where did you hear about Save the Children?
A: My mom and I researched a bunch of websites where we could donate.
Q: What does Save the Children do?
A: It gives materials to kids that lost everything because of the hurricane.
Q: Who bought the lemonade?
A: My mom. Then she helped me make it. It’s my mom’s recipe.
Q: How long have you been selling lemonade?
A: I’ve been selling for three hours. I might continue selling more lemonade to raise more money for Hurricane Harvey and Irma.
Q: How does it make you feel to help people?
A: It makes me feel so great.
Q: What happened at Blondie’s Diner?
A: I told the people dining at Blondie’s what I was doing. They gave me a huge donation.
Q: Have you participated in any other fundraisers?
A: No, this is the first one. But, I’ve done fundraisers at my church, which is New Beginnings Church.
Q: How much have you raised?
A: I’ve raised around $70.
