Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Eric Zorn moved down a notch — maybe two or three — with his confession that he can’t persist in living up to his “better self.” He simply can’t refrain from watching football.

I still have high regard for Zorn, a skilled writer and an author of conscience, no matter who or what might be exposed.

The sport of pigs and their skins has, I acknowledge, addictive features. I loved playing it in high school and college and watching it for decades. But what a waste of time and well-being for an activity that causes so much documented physical and mental destruction.

I swore off it a couple of years ago and now suffer only the sin of pride.

Come on, Eric, get on board with that “better self” of yours.
