Kepa Arrizabalaga’s decisive saves and Mikel Vesga’s goal led Athletic Bilbao to victory over Sevilla.

Eduardo Berizzo’s side produced plenty of chances, but Arrizabalaga recorded a splendid performance, making key interventions in two plays. First, stopping a one-on-one with Wissam Ben Yedder, and deflecting Lionel Carole’s attempt later on.

When Athletic seemed content with the scoreless draw at the half, Vesga found the 1-0 with a subtle touch over the goalkeeper on a goalmouth scramble after a Raul Garcia throw in.

Despite repeated attempts in the second half, Sevilla was unable to avoid the loss. The result puts Athletic Bilbao in the top half of the table, pending the results of the rest of the mathces, and threatens Sevilla’s positioning in Champions League places.
