A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car that then fled the scene in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.

The bicyclist, a 46-year-old man, was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of a 2009 Saturn SUV struck the bicyclist from behind while pulling away from a stop sign in the 3800 block West Augusta Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The Saturn ran the man over and continued driving east on Augusta.

The bicyclist has not been identified.
