I disagree with the the argument of Gary Abernathy in Tuesday’s Tribune to the effect that “Trump is right to bully America’s enemies.”
In fact, I was quite shocked to see the bullying behavior of President Donald Trump endorsed by the author. The reactions of bullying victims are varied, but among them are anger and vengefulness. When mental illness is added to the equation, the results are often irrational and dangerous. The image of the president of the United States engaging in such talk is not helpful to foreign relations, either.
Trump is again stooping to “locker room talk” to assert his masculinity in damaging ways.
