A Montgomery man is accused of concealing heroin during a police traffic stop in Aurora.

Vernon Dumas, 34, 1300 block of Hinman Street, has been charged with manufacturing/delivering between 15 and 100 grams of heroin, a Class X felony; and possession of a controlled substance.

According to Aurora police reports, Dumas was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over around 4:26 p.m. Wednesday near South River Street and Gale Street. During the stop, it was learned that Dumas had a warrant out for his arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Police took Dumas into custody and performed a search where they said they found 15.94 grams of heroin and 4.66 grams of marijuana hidden in Dumas’ pants. The heroin was separated into 32 bags. Police said Dumas had no drug paraphernalia in his possession, so officers believe that would indicate the drugs were for personal use.

Dumas also had $1,160 in his possession at the time of his arrest, police said.
